The Standard for Beauty is All Wrong!!

Everyone has heard the saying ” Beauty is only skin deep”, but what does that mean? beauty is only skin deep means just that…there is only one criteria for judging beauty and that is a physical criteria since ‘beauty’ is a physical characteristic.  Does it mean that below the skin there is no beauty?  Or does it mean physical beauty is just an external attribute. Beneath the skin we are all the same and yet all different.

What if it wasn’t the skin, which means the face and body, that we were responding to when we sought out beauty, but the energy field of the person.  Everything in the universe is energy. Objects are made up of microscopic particles vibrating at such a fast rate that they appear solid. Our limited sense of sight doesn’t let us see the movement, or vibration, of the particles. Every object has a natural healthy vibratory rate referred to as “resonance”.  The vibrations translate into color.

The aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body (Human Energy Field-HEF) and every organism and object in the Universe. The Human Energy Field  is a complex combination of overlapping energy patterns which define the unique spiritual, mental, emotional and physical makeup of an individual.  A person’s Human Energy Field (HEF) is that part of the Universal Energy Field.

The Human Energy Field as a collection of electro – magnetic energies of varying densities that are emitted from the physical body of a living person. These particles of energy are suspended around the healthy human body in an oval shaped field. This “auric egg” emits out from the body approximately 2-3 feet (1 metre on average) on all sides. It extends above the head and below the feet into the ground.  We respond to each other’s energy field whether  we realize it or not.

It might help to think of a magnet, which has an energy field around it that allows nearby objects containing iron to be pulled towards it. You can feel the power of this energy field when you try to pull apart two magnets that are stuck together (attracted). You can also feel the repelling action as a magnet pushes away the same end (pole) of another magnet.

The human aura is sometimes called the body’s magnetic force field  because it has similar attracting and repelling properties, although these are much more complex and varied than the simple ‘north’ and ‘south’ poles of a magnet.  Did you know that what you are thinking and feeling right now is being transmitted to other people – friends and strangers – through your aura? All the stuff that’s going on inside you is having an impact on your external world, including individuals, groups, and the environment is either attracting or repelling people around you.

The aura is seen to be composed of all the colors of the spectrum. Combinations differ with individuals and are constantly shifting in the case of all of us. The colors are representative of mental and emotional states.  Whether we can see the aura or not we are responding to it.

So what if we thought of all people as a color spectrum of the rainbow.

There would be green spectrum people, yellow spectrum people, blue spectrum people and so on, and for each color a different magnetic pull.  Some people might prefer blue spectrum people and some people might prefer red spectrum people and it is not about judgment but preference.  The preference could change based on how someone was feeling.

There is a book called  Aura Colors by Paula Oslie, which talks about the different aura colors and what they reveal about a person that I found very interesting.  According to Ms. Oslie:

Most people have many different bands of color in their auras. The outer bands in your aura change all the time – depending on what is happening in your life at that time. The one or two colors in your aura that are closest to your body, however, are your life colors. These colors typically do not change. The life colors reveal information about your personality, theme and purpose you have chosen for this lifetime, what kind of life partner is best suited for you, what kinds of careers will be most fulfilling, your strengths and weaknesses concerning money, health, family, and much more.

So, in reality, when someone is responding to us they are responding to a blending of things that may include what someone looks like but is probably more about our energy fields and our aura.

I prefer to look at people as a mix of the colors of the rainbow, rather than fat, thing, tall, short, old, young and black and white. How about you?

Beauty and the Law of Attraction

I have been using the Law of Attraction for many years and have experienced the power of my thoughts becoming things.  Sometimes they have become things that I wouldn’t have wished for if they were conscious. Other times something I was thinking about and dreaming about manifest as if by magic!  I know how powerful our thoughts are and I know that if we change them our life can change.

In today’s society, changing one’s appearance through hair color, eye contacts, and having cosmetic surgery all seems to be the answer to creating the “new you.” So is it possible to change the physical appearance by applying the Law of Attraction for new good looks rather than working on our outer appearane.

No one who is truly beautiful think of themselves as ugly. Those two things can not co-exist.  Complete beauty is both inner and outer beauty. Inner beauty is what people call self-image or self esteem.  If you believe you are unattractive and ugly, no matter what kind of clothes or jewelry you wear or how much you try to enhance your appearance, you will still never be truly beautiful. If we think and believe we are not attractive we will continue to manifest people and circumstances that reinforce the belief.  We are sending out a frequency to those around us that we are not beautiful and that will mask our true beauty so people can’t see it.

Conversely, if you believe you are beautiful regardless of your appearance you will radiate beauty and that is what people will see.  An example of this is J.R. Martinez who is currently on Dancing With the Stars.

In February 2003, he was deployed to Iraq. Two months later, Martinez was serving as a driver of a Humvee when the left front tire hit a landmine; he suffered smoke inhalation and severe burns to more than 40 percent of his body.  He spent 34 months at BAMC and has undergone 33 cosmetic and skin-graft surgeries.  As you can see in the small inset photo, his face is not the same with much of it being reconstructed.

Yet on the show he radiates beauty as he dances as if he was whole and complete and never burned.  There he is in front of millions of people and it appears as if he is not concerned at all about his appearance.  He is just beautiful and it comes from within.

How your beauty is perceived by society starts within you. You and only you possess the ability to attract others, whether you have a perfect Barbie doll figure or not. When you can look inside yourself and and love your inner appearance, this confidence and joy will radiate from your inner being and that is what other people will be attracted to.

Who you are inside creates the results you get outside. Once you change the way you are inside, the outer world changes. The energy you give out attracts and creates the results you get. Change your inner energy and you change your results.

Start within and find out what you like about yourself.  What are your gifts? Are you compassionate to those around you? Are you grateful for what you have and happy what yourself? Now look in the mirror and see what it is that you like from the outside. We all have a tendency to focus on the things we doing like when we look in the mirror and it is important not to point out the flaws that you think you have.  Instead focus on the things you really like about you, from the inside to the outside.  Let those perceived ” flaws” fall into the background and fill the foreground with what you like. Accept every bump and mole and realize that these are a part of you, but they are not the inner you.   When you begin to see that you are just like everyone else on this Earth and that you are a wonderful being no matter what, you will begin to assume a glow that become attractive to others.

You will attract the kind of people that you want to be near just by loving and accepting who you are, and by thanking the Universe for the wonderful gift of life it has given you to create  through. They will want to be around you because you possess something that many people don’t have in these days of air brushed photos in magazines, and that is a beauty from within that is so great that your outward appearance becomes to others the perception of what you feel about yourself. The inner you is what possesses the beauty.

To enhance the power of the Law of Attraction you can create beauty affirmations. An affirmation is sentence that is written in present for with the intention of replacing negative limiting thought patterns. Once you can change a belief, law of attraction can start bringing you new amazing things.  There are literally thousands of processes you can use for your affirmations for beauty and law of attraction. The most important thing is that you find a program that feels good to do and that you see results after 30 days of practice.

At first it might seem akward and you might not believe what you are saying  “I am beautiful” which could be  a massive jump right now, which could push old beliefs to the surface, begin by saying I choose to begin thinking I am… or I intent to start thinking I am… Or I intent to start being…

Affirmations for beauty will in time make you feel much better towards the way you look. Over time you will start to radiate inner beauty and the way people see you and you see yourself will change.   You can get to the point where all resistance towards your appearance is released and law of attraction is free to manifest whatever you want.

Rebirth of Beauty

I wrote this poem 8 days after my 20th birthday.  I was already in touch with the meaning of beauty and how we lose sight of it.

Out of the darkness

I was sentenced to for months

I first opened my eyes.

I was in a different world,

a small, breathless child,

here by the miracle of birth.

But I was already aware of the newness,

the smell of the air,

the taste of nothingness,

the blurred vision of movement.

The newness, where has it gone,

the vision, where,

the feel of things,

the beauty of light, dark,

the feel of rain on my face?

The wind in my hair?

These things haven’t gone

they have become a part of me.

So much a part of me they are forgotten.

Out of the long darkness

I was sentenced to for years

I again open my eyes,

I am in a different world now,

and again aware of the newness.

Fitness! Oh My Gosh am I really working with a Personal Trainer?

First I have to admit that fitness and working out is not in my blood.  It was never part of my life growing up.  I did play softball a few summers but I wasn’t very good so I never got hooked into sports.  I tried out for cheerleading when I was in High School but that didn’t happen either, so most of my life if I did anything physical it was just dabbling and it didn’t last very long.   The idea of working with a trainer would have been a long shot in the past and seeing me in boxing gloves, never!  I actually really enjoy boxing.  Maybe there is a new career emerging!

The way I see getting physically fit connected to natural beauty is deeper than the obvious looking better.  When our body is fit it effects everything from self-esteem to a stronger immune system to easy of movement all of which add to the level of beauty that is shining out of you from the inside.

My personal trainer, Andrea Austin connect with me on LinkedIn, a website where business people connect.  She offered me a free consult and I was in a place where I was interested in exploring it so we set up a consultation.  Andrea has what she calls a boutique studio.  It is in her home on the East side of St. Paul.  You walk in the front door and her living room is transformed into a gym.  Rumor has it so is her lower level, but I haven’t been down there yet.

A bit of background that has led me to decide to work with a personal trainer is in order first.  I have been a distributor with a company called It Works! for three years.  Our product line consists of anti-aging products, nutritional supplements and a product called the Ultimate Body Applicator, which detoxifies and slims the body in as little as 45 minutes.  I have been using a number of our products consistently for the last two years and have seen dramatic changes in my body, including weight and inch loss, increase in stamina and energy and a more youthful look.  All of these changes have led me to the place where I want to get more strength and flexibility.   I prefer to use nutriceuticals instead of pharmaceuticals and want to avoid the diseases that are common in my family such as diabetes and heart disease. My three siblings and my mother have diabetes.  So getting in shape was a logical step and so was Andrea.

Our initial consultation included a workout and I was surprised at how well I did.  I like Andrea’s non-judgmental, encouraging approach. She also believes in small steps.  This is really important to me because I am not a workout jock and I am starting later in life.

It has been two weeks since  we started working together and I have seen dramatic changes in my body already.  I know the combination of being consistent with my workout at home and the It Works! products I take to support me is a winning combination.  I have lost 5 pounds and 6 inches in that short of time and Andrea commented yesterday that she could already see my waistline emerging.  If you go to my link at the top of the blog called “Quintessential Health and Wellness” you will find my comments on the products I am using and how they are supporting my fitness program.  I will be blogging about my fitness journey and posting photos in the weeks and months ahead as I transform my body.

Hello Beautiful World!

Welcome to my blog!

The subject of this blog, Beauty, has been both a challenge to me and a blessing.  Much of my life I struggle to see my own beauty and could only see it when I looked back at pictures of myself, but couldn’t see it in the present.  I still have my own mini war with it but that is changing.  I don’t look like a Hollywood model, but guess what, neither do they!  Take away the 6 hours of make up and hair styling and they look just like the rest of us.  Beautiful in their own way.

Many are finding themselves lonely in this world obsessed with beauty and youth, and it can be hard if you feel you don’t measure up to the images we have been spoon fed all of our lives.  I believe we are in a crisis of beauty and that is what is wrong with the world.  People judge each other all of the time about what they think is beauty or lack there of.  Much of this dialog happens in a split second in a less than conscious, habitual way based on the images we have been fed.  How can that have any value?  Yet we internalize what we hear, see and experience as beauty and hold it up as a mirror to judge ourselves.

Our task is to be authentic and become secure in our own beauty, both inside and out, so that it doesn’t matter what others think. In reality we all have our own unique beauty, that can’t be duplicating and comparing ourselves to someone else is like comparing apples to oranges. Why should someone else’s unconscious opinion, based on false standards supersede our own?

Come along with me on this adventure to find BEAUTY…
